First day of first grade

I can't believe it. This school year is so different. Jacob is riding the bus for the first time and now with no job for me,  I have to keep busy to keep my mind off the fact that my baby is growing up. I couldn't be more proud. As much I would like and we need for me to find a job, I am trying to enjoy every moment I can. I get to walk him to the bus and be there to see his smile when he gets off in the afternoon and for that I am thankful.

7 months ... but who is counting

I cannot believe that in exactly 7 months, I will have a new last name. I am having a harder time than I expected deciding on a dress. I thought I found THE one and then I sort of had a bad dream about it. So now I am back to being unsure. Mom and I will be doing some more dress shopping this week, along with taking Jacob to Fernbank. He is so excited to see the dinosaur bones. I cannot believe school starts in two weeks! Jacob goes tomorrow for testing. Not sure why ... maybe because he is going to a new school. He continues to amaze me with his reading and the fact that one day he just "got it" and can tie his shoes now, no problem. Although money is tight with me out of work, we have managed to still have a fun summer. But I am looking forward to better days!

Settling in

We have been in the house for a couple weeks now. Things are coming together great and we are loving every minute of it. Jacob only has a little over 2 weeks left in school and then he will be a first grader. I can't believe it. His new school is less than a mile down the road. I am not sure if I am ready to let him ride the bus or not. I guess I will leave it up to him. Registration is July 21st so we can check out the school then. I signed Robert and myself up for marriage class on May 16th. Then we will finally begin the process to receive the holy sacrament of marriage. I really need to get back into planning mode. That's all for now. Just a quick update.

Moving

I am not doing so good at updating this blog. Well we finally found a house we all loved. It is 6.5 miles from our apartment and most everything in it has been redone. Let's start from the bottom. 2 car garage, up half a flight if stairs to Raymond's area. He has his own living room, bedroom and bathroom. The laundry room is also located on this level. Then you go up half a flight of stairs to the main living area - living room, kitchen and dining room. Up another half flight of stairs to our bedrooms. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. The back deck is amazing! It comes off the kitchen. Then you go down a half flight of stairs and there is another deck area that is covered. Raymond's bathroom window shows to it and the master bathroom comes out over it. I can't wait to post pictures. The landlord is really nice. We are signing a 2 year lease and who knows. Maybe we will purchase. It just feels good to be moving forward in life. Planning a wedding, decorating a new house. Now if only I could find a job ...

Need your input

What are some words and/or short phrases you would use to describe Jacob?

Why am I asking this? You will see soon!

Just a update

I haven't posted in a while so I figured I better. Jacob has been doing great in school. Usually his not so great days are do to a lack of sleep. An afternoon nap usually cures that and he is much more tolerable when he wakes up (including the morning after). He has a new routine to prevent a lot of the "Hurry up Jacob" in the mornings. We lay his clothes out the night before. His alarm goes off (sometimes). He gets up, dressed, breakfast, teeth and then if he has free time, he can enjoy. For the most part this works and it saves me from constantly going in his room to remind him how much time is left til we have to leave. I am still looking for a job but am taking advantage of driving him to school in my pajamas. Does that make me a bad mom? I don't get out of the car so you cant even tell I'm wearing my pink slippers :-) Surely he would tell me if he was embarrassed. That reminds me of a funny story. Apparently Jacob told my dad about this older boy in after school program that made fun of him. I sent him to school with his so stylish shirt that read "Mom's Little Man". I thought it was cute! Well this older boy can obviously read and laughed at Jacob. I haven't attempted to put that shirt back on him yet but hope he will still wear it with pride. Sorry kid ... but you will always be my little man (and a few other things).
