What a gift!

Today has been a very special day. My 28th birthday, no school due to flooding (no school tomorrow either) and Jacob finally lost his first tooth! At first he wanted it gone but when it came to it, he just had to hang on. He was adamant about it staying until it was time for it to come out. Robert and I made the executive decision it was time to come out. When he could get it back in the hole, it was time. So Jacob sat on my lap and Robert worked his magic. A few moments later and "Wah-lah!" Jacob was so happy!

When he thinks I can't hear him

Jacob has been back and forth between baths and showers. Lately it's been showers. Tonight, out of nowhere, I hear "Chicken Fried" coming from behind the shower curtain. I sure do love that little boy!

New business idea

I have been out of work now for 6 months now. I came into my dad's office today to help out for a little while and in between answering phones, I have been thinking about an old thought. I remember a few years ago when my dad talked to me about starting my own daycare. He would provide the funds and I would run the business. I am not sure how serious he was on this; it may have been more for pushing me to major in business in college. That thought has stayed with me. Business is in my blood. My dad started his own business with not much of anything 30 years ago. I have seen him build it up and stay afloat during these hard economical times. My works for him and so does one of my brothers. I would LOVE to own my own business, be my own boss, make my daddy proud (I know he already is). How awesome would it be?? So my idea ... A CEREAL BAR! Seriously ... this idea is so freaking cool. I saw this place featured on Food Network a while back and instantly liked the idea. What a perfect place for near Kennesaw State University and the surrounding businesses! What is a cereal bar you ask? It is kind of like Cold Stone Creamery but with cereal. You have tons of different kinds of cereal to choose from and tons of toppings. You can eat in and enjoy free wi-fi or take it to go. S'mores = golden grahams, marshmellows, chocolate chips and chocolate sauce. Just like at Cold Stone, you can pick from an already thought up idea or create your own. Seriously ... how cool is that??

First day of first grade

I can't believe it. This school year is so different. Jacob is riding the bus for the first time and now with no job for me,  I have to keep busy to keep my mind off the fact that my baby is growing up. I couldn't be more proud. As much I would like and we need for me to find a job, I am trying to enjoy every moment I can. I get to walk him to the bus and be there to see his smile when he gets off in the afternoon and for that I am thankful.

7 months ... but who is counting

I cannot believe that in exactly 7 months, I will have a new last name. I am having a harder time than I expected deciding on a dress. I thought I found THE one and then I sort of had a bad dream about it. So now I am back to being unsure. Mom and I will be doing some more dress shopping this week, along with taking Jacob to Fernbank. He is so excited to see the dinosaur bones. I cannot believe school starts in two weeks! Jacob goes tomorrow for testing. Not sure why ... maybe because he is going to a new school. He continues to amaze me with his reading and the fact that one day he just "got it" and can tie his shoes now, no problem. Although money is tight with me out of work, we have managed to still have a fun summer. But I am looking forward to better days!

Settling in

We have been in the house for a couple weeks now. Things are coming together great and we are loving every minute of it. Jacob only has a little over 2 weeks left in school and then he will be a first grader. I can't believe it. His new school is less than a mile down the road. I am not sure if I am ready to let him ride the bus or not. I guess I will leave it up to him. Registration is July 21st so we can check out the school then. I signed Robert and myself up for marriage class on May 16th. Then we will finally begin the process to receive the holy sacrament of marriage. I really need to get back into planning mode. That's all for now. Just a quick update.
